Production Planner Software
This is software suited for a manufacturer that produces product in order to maintain inventory levels. It is a tool that would help a scheduler to decide which product needs to be produced, at what quantity, over what time frame. The software lets an scheduler view historical and forecasted inventory levels in graphic form over some time period. They can quickly review inventory levels of different skus and see which products should be manufactured in the near future. If the inventory level for a sku is too low, the scheduler can create a Manufacturing Order (MO). The MO identifies the sku, quantity to produce and over what time period. Once an MO is created the forecasted change in inventory is shown immediately on the inventory graph. A screenshot of the Production Planner:
The left side is where a sku is selected. The middle region shows the inventory profile over time. The horizontal bar can represent minimal inventory levels. The right side shows a history of MOs that were created. The Production Planner can be used for tracking inventory of semi and finished product.
Production Planner is software that requires some customization, setup and input data. Examples of input data would be:
- sku data
- historical inventory levels for some time period
To create forecasted inventory levels the software can work from actual sales forecast data or can use historical patterns of inventory decrease to predict future inventory levels. There are a number of options.
Once Manufacturing Orders have been created they can be exported from the software in text format to be then imported into scheduling tool. Production Planner works well with our MaxScheduler Machine scheduler. The MO export can be imported into MaxScheduler and production lines can be scheduled based on the recently created MOs.
